Tuscan Book Art Retreat September 9-16, 2012

Come join us as we relax, eat, drink, and create with Rachel Hazell, The Travelling Bookbinder at Spannocchia in Tuscany.

Rachel is an award winning bookbinder who travels the world inspiring students, from beginners to experts, to bind unique artistic books.  The workshop theme will be “Recipes”.  As the artist, you’ll decide whether your book will be a collection of family delicacies or something more philosophical like “The Recipe for a Good Life”.

Whether you’re a serious artist, an avid journaling enthusiast, or someone who wants to learn something new, you’ll find Rachel Hazell’s teaching style warm and engaging.

Rachel Hazell Journals & Stitching

Rachel will show us how to incorporate beautiful stitching, writing, and found objects into our one-of-a kind works of art.  The atmosphere will be supportive and nurturing, with an emphasis on fine craft skills and individual expression.  Delicious!

Rachel Hazell Book Art Class in Progress

Our home for the week will be the villa at Tenuta di Spannocchia, a centuries old estate that rests high on a hilltop guarded by a twelfth century tower. With such beautiful surroundings, we’ll step into the rustic, gentle flow of Tuscan farm life, eating organic foods grown on the sustainable farm at Spannocchia and prepared with traditional Italian methods.  Each evening will be celebrated with a wine reception on the patio followed by dinner.

Spannocchia Tuscan Book Art Retreat

When not exploring book art, we’ll learn about the food, wine, and olive oil produced at Spannocchia with tours and tastings.    We’ll also venture to Florence to gather more inspiration for our books.

Spaces are limited for this exciting Pretty Book Adventure with Rachel Hazell, so sign up soon!
